Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village is seeking a Facilities Custodian (Porter) to maintain an East New York, Brooklyn facility. This full-time, non-exempt position offers an hourly rate of $22.15 and a schedule of Tuesday–Saturday, 7am–3pm.

You will perform daily cleaning, floor care, restroom sanitation, and waste removal while following safety protocols. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, retirement account with employer match, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Six months of custodial or related experience.
• Familiarity with cleaning procedures, methods, and equipment.
• Experience with floor care and vinyl flooring maintenance.
• Ability to operate stripping and buffing machines.
• Adherence to safety protocols and SDS knowledge.
• Willingness to respond to maintenance and flood emergencies.
• Strong sense of responsibility and pride in clean, safe spaces for others.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with clear communication.
• Basic computer skills to support reporting or updates.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the facility including common areas, restrooms, offices, and entrances.
• Perform floor care with stripping and buffing machines while preserving vinyl finish.
• Identify and address cleaning needs to uphold sanitation and safety standards.
• Disinfect bathrooms and high-touch surfaces per hygiene protocols.
• Remove trash and debris from indoor and outdoor areas; clear snow from exterior when needed.
• Use cleaning equipment properly and keep it in good working order.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear protective gear.
