Job summary

• Ability to work independently and communicate with staff and supervisors.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Custodian

SamaritanDaytopVillage is a leading human services organization in New York State serving over 38,000 New Yorkers annually across more than 60 locations through Transitional Housing, Community Based Services, and Residential and Outpatient programs. First Steps Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC),operatedby SamaritanDaytopVillage in Rockland County, is a 24/7 program dually licensed by OMH and OASAS to provide rapid, short-term supportfor children ages 5+ and adultsin mental health or substance use crisis. Our multidisciplinary teamutilizesa trauma-informed, harm-reduction framework to stabilize individuals and connect them with long-term care while avoiding unnecessary emergency room visits.

We are seeking a Maintenance Custodian to ensure the facilityremainsclean, safe, and in good repair for all clients and staff. This role combines daily custodial duties, such as floor care anddisinfecting, with light maintenance tasks and minor building repairs. You willbe responsible formaintaininghigh standardsof sanitation while proactivelyidentifyingand addressing small maintenance needs as they arise. Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean and orderly environment throughout the facility, includingcommon areas, offices, and clinical spaces such as exam rooms
• Performs detailed floor care such as sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing using side-by-side stripping and high-speed buffing machines
• Executes light maintenance tasks and minor repairs, such as changing door locks, replacing light bulbs, or fixing basic fixtures
• Cleans and disinfects high-touch surfaces and bathrooms dailyin accordance withhygiene and sanitation protocols
• Manages waste removal by collecting and disposing of trash and debris from both indoor and outdoor areas
• Ensures safe facility access by clearing snow and ice from the building exterior and entrances as needed
• Operates andmaintainscleaning equipment and hand tools, ensuring they are kept in good working condition
• Follows all safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and approved cleaning agents
• Responds promptly to maintenance emergencies or facility issues, such as leaks or spills, to prevent safety hazards
• Uses basic computer skills to submit maintenance reports, track supplies, or communicate with supervisors

Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of experience in custodial or maintenance work within a professional facility, such as a medical center, office building, or school
• Practical experience and ability to performing light maintenance and minor building repairs using basic hand tools
• Familiarity with professional cleaning procedures, sanitation methods, and high-standard floor care
• Knowledge of operating floor stripping and buffing machines tomaintainvinyl and hard surfaces
• Ability to follow safety protocols for chemical handling and an understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Experience with or willingness to perform outdoor upkeep, including manual snow and ice removal
• Flexibility to respond to facility emergencies, such as leaks or minor repair needs, as they arise
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with staff and supervisors
• Commitment to treating all individuals with dignity and respect,maintaininga professional and compassionate presence around clients in crisis
• Basic computer skills for reporting, supply tracking, and receiving facility updates

Additional Information

This is a full-time non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $21.97-$23.31 (annualized at 35 hours a week to -$40,000-$42,426) with a full benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, eligible for daily pay arrangement, access to a retirement account with an employer to matchand tuition reimbursement.

This roleis located in Blauvelt, NY with a schedule of Tuesday-Saturday 3pm-11pm.
