Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village in East New York, Brooklyn, is seeking a Facilities Custodian (Porter). You will help keep the facility clean and welcoming by performing daily cleaning tasks—floors, restrooms, offices, and common areas—while ensuring safety and sanitation for clients and staff.

This full-time, non-exempt role offers $22.15 per hour (about $40,314 annually at 35 hours/week) plus medical, dental, vision, paid time off, retirement matching, and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• At least six months of custodial or related experience.
• Familiarity with cleaning procedures, methods, and equipment.
• Experience with floor care and vinyl flooring maintenance.
• Knowledge of cleaning machines (stripping and buffing).
• Ability to follow safety protocols and SDS.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the facility.
• Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and spot-cleaning with specified machines.
• Identify and address cleaning needs to uphold sanitation and safety.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms and high-touch surfaces.
• Remove trash and debris and handle outdoor snow clearing when needed.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely and keep supplies in good condition.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear protective gear.
