Job summary

Newport Aquarium, part-time on-site event staff, seeks Hosts for evening events. Roles focus on guest assistance, equipment setup/teardown, and safety compliance, with flexible scheduling and no event planning duties.

Must be 18+, U.S. English proficient, and able to work varying shifts including weekends. Experience in customer service is a plus; stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have strong public speaking skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must read, write, and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages a plus).
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and holidays. Evening availability is required.
• Reliable transportation needed, bus service may not be available after some events complete: midnight or later.

Responsibilities

• Perform and adhere to Herschend Enterprises’ Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Service Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest and event services operations.
• Responsible for all aspects of event operation, including set up/tear down of equipment, touch tank coverage/interpretation, Property Screening, and House and Grounds/Custodial duties as it pertains to the event.
• Always maintain a positive attitude and appearance.
• Approach guests in a friendly manner to help and provide information regarding Newport Aquarium.
• Arrive on time and ready to work all scheduled shifts, and in accordance with aquarium uniform and appearance standards.
