Job summary

The Newport Aquarium, part of Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation, is seeking a part-time House & Grounds team member to help keep the facility clean and well-maintained during operating hours and events. You will engage guests with information and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning, maintenance tasks, and assisting with after-hours events. A flexible schedule including weekends is required; benefits include PTO, discounts, and training

Qualifications

• 18 years old or older.
• Willingness to become Bloodborne Pathogens trained.
• Knowledge of aquatic life a plus.
• Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to work with little to no supervision while remaining motivated and on task.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the overall cleanliness of Newport Aquarium by completing daily checklists and cleaning tasks.
• Contribute to overall building maintenance both during operation and after hours.
• Proactively find ways to better the overall Guest Experience.
• Engage guests with animal facts, information, and personal connections through interpretation.
• Daily garbage, recycling, and compost disposal.
• Deep cleans using specified machines (pressure washer, carpet extractor, hard floor scrubber, etc.).
• Fulfill House and Grounds duties during after-hours Events.
• Additional cleaning and maintenance tasks assigned by the House and Grounds Lead and/or Supervisor.
