Job summary

YMCA of Greater Boston’s International Learning Center (ILC) in Boston seeks an ESOL Teacher/Advisor for in-person, part-time work. Responsibilities include ESOL instruction, goal-oriented coursework, and collaboration with advisers.

The role involves developing contextualized lessons, using ELPS standards, and integrating employment skills. Benefits and professional development are offered, with a focus on immigrant learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• TESOL/TEFL/TESL certificate preferred.
• Eligible to live and work in the US.
• Strong communication and classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Substitute ESOL, Career Advancement, and English for Immigrant Entrepreneurs classes for adults.
• Incorporate adult learner goals into coursework.
• Develop and deliver lessons aligned with Massachusetts ELPS.
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Adapt materials for Google Classroom and Zoom.
• Present clear objectives for each class.
• Incorporate digital literacy into instruction.
• Collaborate with Career Advisor to track student goals.
• Conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor progress.
• Collaborate on curriculum reviews and program improvement.
• Communicate classroom issues to Program Director in a timely manner.
• Keep attendance and progress reports; attend meetings.
