Job summary

EdAdvance in Connecticut is seeking an Adult Education Part-Time Evening ESL Teacher to support Watertown High School learners in evenings (6:00–8:00 PM). This role reports to the Director of Adult Education and starts August 15, 2026.

Plan and deliver instruction aligned with English Language Proficiency standards, create a positive learning environment, and employ diverse strategies to develop speaking and literacy skills in adult multilingual learners.

Job description

EdAdvance is one of Connecticut's six Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs). It partners with RESC Alliance groups to support statewide initiatives.

Adult Education Part‑Time Evening ESL Teacher

Location: Watertown High School, 324 French St, Watertown, CT
Reports to: Director of Adult Education
Part‑Time Schedule: 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Mondays & Wednesdays
Salary: $33.10/hour
Start Date: August 15, 2026 (position open until filled)

Major Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver instruction aligned with English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards.
  • Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and develop foundational speaking and literacy skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Sensitive to the needs of adult learners aged 18+.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports to support instruction.
  • Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop, projector, and interactive board to enhance instruction.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • CT Certification #088 (Non-English Speaking Adults) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree is required; a Bachelor's or Master's degree in education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different backgrounds and cultures.
  • Experience teaching adult learners who speak multiple languages.
  • Attuned to the specific learning needs of adult students.
