Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Rockville, MD is seeking an ELD instructor to plan and provide English language development instruction for Emergent Multilingual Learners (EML), under the direction of the school principal.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and Maryland ESOL/ELD certification; Spanish fluency is preferred. The schedule is 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM, full-time; benefits information is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Holds Maryland teacher certification in ESOL/ELD.
• Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors and other school staff in organizing and implementing the ELD instructional program.
• Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans for and provides English language development (ELD) instruction for ELD-identified students.
• Collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers and other school staff about Emergent Multilingual Learner students and their needs.
• Explains the ELD instructional program to parents.
• Serves as a resource on EML, cultural and linguistic differences, and the ELD program for students, staff, and community.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Maryland ESOL/ELD certification

Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods

Excellent oral and written communication

Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors and other school staff

Fluency in another language preferred (Spanish)
