Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland seeks an English Language Development (ELD) teacher to plan and provide instruction for Emergent Multilingual Learners identified through state proficiency tests.

Under the principal's direction, you will collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to support students’ academic and cultural adjustment and to explain the ELD program to parents. A Bachelor's degree and Maryland ESOL/ELD certification are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of second language teaching methods.
• Ability to collaborate with administrators, counselors and teachers.
• Fluency in another language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan for and provide ELD instruction for students identified as eligible for ELD services.
• Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers and other staff regarding EML students.
• Explain the ELD instructional program to parents and serve as a resource.
• Support students in adjusting to the academic and cultural environment.
