Job summary

Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall seeks an ED Registration Associate to greet and register patients in the Emergency Department. You will collect demographics and insurance data, advise on next steps, and ensure compliant record-keeping across Joint Commission standards and hospital policies.

The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a high-pressure environment. Spanish language skills are a plus; prior medical office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years experience; at least one year in medical office with frequent customer interaction.
• Basic computer skills required.
• English proficiency required; Spanish a plus.
• Previous patient registration or patient accounting experience preferred.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training bi-annually.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients upon arrival in the ED.
• Collect and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Advise patients on next steps in the care process.
• Ensure accurate and timely patient records per Joint Commission and DOH standards.
• Answer and direct internal and external calls; page on-call providers and staff.
• Respond to emergency communications such as code calls and critical alerts.
• Interact with patients, clinical teams, external agencies, and payers regularly.
