Job summary

Unity Bay is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide support, supervision, and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a Community Training Home. The DSP helps individuals achieve independence, safety, and personal development.

The role involves following agency policies, administering medications per policy, documenting ISPs and MARs, transporting individuals, and maintaining a safe, respectful environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum age 18.
• One year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional behavior and follow agency mission, policies, and procedures
• Support individuals to achieve personal outcomes and a high quality of life
• Promote an environment free from abuse and neglect, respecting rights and dignity
• Assist individuals in maintaining safe and healthy lifestyles
• Monitor and report changes in health and daily routines
• Follow proper lifting and mobility assistance techniques
• Provide hands-on support with hygiene, grooming, and daily living tasks
• Prepare meals and snacks according to dietary needs
• Administer medications and complete MARs
• Complete ISPs and behavior programs
• Communicate changes to supervisors and nursing staff
• Safely transport individuals to activities and appointments
