Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock associate to transport freight across dock areas and load trailers. The role involves operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight, verify shipments, and secure cargo with straps.

You’ll assist customers, complete reports, and may perform hostling duties in a fast-paced environment. Pay starts at $23.46 per hour with a range up to $27.44; benefits include health and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck to move freight.
• Verify freight paperwork against shipment details.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required freight documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Adhere to all laws, regulations, and company policies.
