Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight between docks and trailers. You will operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck to move freight, verify paperwork, and secure cargo for loading.

Responsibilities include handling damaged freight, completing reports, and assisting customers with freight documentation. The role requires independence, teamwork, and adherence to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Prior warehousing or freight handling experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math with/without calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight and dock plates repeatedly.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck as needed.
• Verify freight descriptions and documentation for accuracy.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Adhere to all laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
