Job summary

IGHL is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in New York to role-model respect and assist with Activities of Daily Living for individuals with developmental disabilities. The role includes hands-on support, documentation, and collaboration with the Residential team at IGHL.

The DSP will provide ADL assistance, supervise medications and activities, and help implement therapy and nutrition education while ensuring safety and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license required.
• SCIP and Adult CPR certifications required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. at least five times per hour.
• Ability to sit, stand or bend throughout the day.
• Enthusiastic team player able to handle stressful situations professionally.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication per OPWDD AMAP certification.
• Proactively encourages choice making and uses redirection techniques as per SCIP certification.
• Guides and supervises self-care routines (toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Implements program goals and maintains logs and documentation, including billing as needed.
• Performs and supervises housekeeping tasks and assists with household chores.
• Participates in recreation activities and supports community outings and transportation.
