Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore seeks a Direct Support Professional for weekend evenings in Baltimore, MD. The DSP will assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily activities, meals, and personal care, while promoting independence and meaningful community engagement.

The role emphasizes dignity, respect, and trauma-informed care within a supportive team. Weekend availability is required, with a focus on building meaningful relationships and advocacy.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds and assist people who use wheelchairs.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and personal care to promote dignity and independence.
• Help with meals, encourage healthy eating, and maintain a clean kitchen environment.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speech.
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build confidence and self.
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
