Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting independence and meaningful living. The role includes personal care, meal support, and advocating for rights, within a trauma-informed care environment.

The position offers evening weekend hours (Sat-Sun 3 PM–11 PM), benefits like health/dental/vision, PTO, retirement plan, tuition advancement, and paid parental leave.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete)

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and personal care with dignity and independence.
• Help with meals, encourage healthy eating, and maintain a clean kitchen while promoting independence.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speech.
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build confidence and self-esteem.
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care.
