Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Direct Support Professional to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead meaningful, independent lives. The role focuses on building trusted relationships, supporting daily routines, and encouraging activities the individuals love.

This DSP position requires weekend shifts in Lutherville Timonium, MD. The role emphasizes dignity, person-centered care, and teamwork within a compassionate program.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• Support daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and personal care in a way that promotes dignity, independence, and choice.
• Assist people in preparing meals of their choice, encouraging healthy eating habits, and maintaining a clean and comfortable kitchen environment—while promoting independence and personal preferences.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speaking.
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build their confidence and sense of self.
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
