Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live meaningful, independent lives. The DSP will build trusted relationships, support daily needs, and encourage participation in activities they love, like music, concerts, shopping, and church, in a trauma-informed care environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily routines to promote dignity, independence, and choice.
• Prepare meals of residents' choice, encourage healthy eating, and maintain a clean kitchen.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speaking.
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build confidence and self.
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
