Job summary

IGHL Inc. in New York is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) who serves as a role model for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The DSP provides hands-on assistance with ADLs and supports mutual respect, communication, and teamwork. Responsibilities include administering medications per certification, guiding self-care activities, supervising daily living tasks, maintaining logs, and assisting with transportation and community activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid New York State driver’s license required.
• SCIP certification and Adult CPR certification required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication as per certification.
• Uses proactive approaches to encourage choice making and safety.
• Guides and supervises self-care routines including ADLs.
• Implements program goal plans and documents as required.
• Maintains logs including nursing, medication, behavior, and first aid.
• Provides transportation and supervision during community activities when applicable.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Completes SCIP, AMAP, and CPR certifications within 6 months of hire.
