Job summary

The University of Iowa’s Facilities Management is seeking a Supervisor of Custodian Services to oversee custodians, coordinate activities, inspect results, and ensure work aligns with guidelines for the Second Shift Service Area.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 4:30pm–1:30am with potential overtime due to operational needs. On-campus role with full-time schedule and responsibilities including staff coaching and safety adherence.

Qualifications

• Two years custodial or related maintenance experience; supervisory duties.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving policy standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand employee work assignments and schedule coverage.
• Complete 4 hours administrative and 4 hours cleaning time daily; perform additional custodial tasks as needed.
• Interview, select, train, evaluate staff and advise on promotions or discipline.
• Promote safe work environment and maintain safety standards per regulations.
• Assist in planning procedures and improve efficiency of operations.
