Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care—Environmental Services division seeks a Custodian Services Supervisor to coordinate, supervise, inspect results, and oversee the work activities of custodians on campus in Iowa City. This full-time role includes scheduling, training, and maintaining equipment and supplies to meet department needs, with a 3rd shift schedule and rotating holidays.

Qualifications

• Two years of custodial experience or related building and facilities maintenance, including supervisory experience for at least six months.

Responsibilities

• Interview and hire, evaluate performance, and recommend disciplinary actions or promotions.
• Develop work schedules and direct daily custodial activities.
• Train and orient new employees; conduct training sessions to improve knowledge and skills.
• Schedule and approve vacation time; conduct training to improve skills.
• Inspect all areas of assignment and complete inspection reports.
• Evaluate, test, and recommend new supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate relocation of furniture/equipment and movement to/from repair shops.
• Oversee delivery of new equipment and removal of equipment from inventory.
• Coordinate custodial functions to meet department needs with environmental controls and proper procedures.
• Maintain linen inventory and custodial supplies; prepare reports as directed.
• Assist in planning procedures and revise methods to improve efficiency.
• Report damage or irregularities needing attention or repair.
• Address department requests and complaints related to custodial services.
