Job summary

Muskegon Community College seeks a dedicated Custodian for the 2nd shift at the MCC Main Campus. This position maintains a safe, clean, and orderly learning environment across campus buildings and grounds, working independently within a team.

Candidates should be able to lift heavy loads, follow written instructions, and use cleaning chemicals and equipment effectively. Responsibilities include cleaning, setup for events, equipment maintenance, and delivery tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge to operate custodial equipment and maintain facilities.
• Dependability and punctuality required.
• Basic computer skills; Word/Excel/Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning functions: sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, vacuuming and related tasks.
• Operate and maintain cleaning machines and equipment.
• Set up, clean up and assist with campus events and activities.
• Deliver goods and parcels to various departments; assist with mail and off-campus pickups as needed.
• Report safety concerns to supervisor and document issues.
• Assist with snow removal and other seasonal tasks.
• Collaborate with Physical Plant staff and outside contractors; participate in trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
