Job summary

Whitworth University is seeking two evening custodians to maintain a clean, welcoming campus. You will join the Facilities Services team to support students, faculty, and staff with cleaning tasks across administrative, academic, resident halls, athletic facilities, and more.

Two schedules exist: Thursday to Monday, 2 PM–10:30 PM, and Friday to Tuesday, 2 PM–10:30 PM. Final days will be set with selected candidates.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning tasks across multiple campus buildings (vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, carpet care, polishing).
• Move furnishings, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Shovel snow and remove ice from sidewalks near entrances (up to 20 feet).
• Maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Identify and submit work orders via electronic or written systems.
• Communicate daily assignments to student workers in your building.
• Provide excellent customer service to Whitworth University constituents.
• Other duties as assigned.

As a Custodian at Whitworth University, you will be an integral part of our Facilities Services team, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive campus environment. Your work will directly impact the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff, and contribute to the overall excellence of Whitworth University.

There are two openings available, with schedules as follows: Thursday to Monday working from 2 PM to 10:30 PM, and Friday to Tuesday working from 2 PM to 10:30 PM. The final schedules will be confirmed with the selected candidates before their first day of employment, ensuring that all arrangements are tailored to university operations and their individual availability.

• Cleaning tasks encompass, but are not limited to, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, carpet care, and polishing across various buildings such as administrative, academic, resident halls, athletic facilities, and theme houses.
• Move furnishings, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Shovel snow and remove ice from sidewalks up to 20 feet from building entrances.
• Maintain inventory levels.
• Identify and submit work orders via electronic and/or written documentation.
• Communicate daily assignments to student workers who may work in your building.
• Provide excellent customer service to all Whitworth University constituents, including students, employees, guests, and vendors.
• Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Six months of experience in building or institutional custodial work is preferred.
• A valid driver’s license.
• SDS knowledge preferred (OSHA on how to properly handle and use cleaning chemicals).

Schedules

Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week

Schedule 1: Thursday - Monday | 2 PM to 10:30 PM

Schedule 2: Friday - Tuesday | 2 PM to 10:30 PM
