Job summary

Pillars is hiring a Crisis Housing Advocate to support clients at the Adult Shelter in Appleton, WI. This part-time role (evenings) involves serving as the first point of contact for clients and volunteers, managing intake and exits, and assisting with daily operations to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

You will work on-site, handle client needs, enter data into HMIS, coordinate with staff and partners, and participate in staff training while promoting Pillars values of Respect,

Qualifications

• Relevant experience preferred, especially with homelessness.
• Experience with survivors of domestic violence.
• Experience with people facing mental health struggles and addictions.
• Knowledge of community resources available to low-income or homeless individuals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the point of contact for clients, volunteers, and visitors.
• Complete the client intake process including interviewing potential clients and reviewing house rules.
• Enter each client into HMIS and update files as necessary.
• Complete the client exit process including exit interviews and researching no-shows.
• Maintain accurate electronic log sheets for all individuals served.
• Assist clients in daily activities and provide resources to promote self-sufficiency.
• Collaborate with staff and community partner agencies to coordinate care.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members and volunteers.
• Maintain building safety and enforce policies; call law enforcement when needed.
• Receive, organize, and store donations; prepare and serve meals as necessary.
• Handle office tasks: CCAP checks, photo releases, name tags, sign-in books, parking allocations.
• Follow intake and exit procedures; participate in meetings; collaborate with agencies.
