Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY seeks a Laboratory Technician in the Chemistry Laboratory within the Division of Clinical Pathology. Under supervision, you will perform routine tests, operate automated instruments, and maintain QC/QA records, contributing to accurate patient results.

Qualified candidates will have an associate degree (bachelor preferred), at least one year of experience, NYS CLT license, and proficiency with lab equipment and LIS.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor's degree in Medical Technician or life sciences preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of work experience required.
• New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technician License required.
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, QA/QC concepts and practices.
• Knowledge of Laboratory information systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine QC.
• Operate automated instruments.
• Manual procedures, maintain logs.
• Use all infection controls procedures.
• Able to operate Laboratory equipment.
• Use independent judgment to solve technical and procedural problems.
• Recognize pediatric, neonatal panic values.
• Review results for consistency with demographics of patient.
• Report panic and abnormal values, proper handling with specimens' problems.
