Scheduled Hours: 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM

Scheduled Daily Hours: 7.5 hours

Hourly Rate: $50.78

Typical hiring rate applies; final rate may be affected by shift differential, experience, education, or other factors.

This position is located at the Moses campus in the Chemistry Lab. Hours are 3:30 PM–12:00 AM with alternate weekends. Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency tests on blood, serum, spinal fluid and other body fluids using automated and manual equipment, depending on procedure. Monitor specimens to ensure work is completed
• Review data prior to release
• Report all panic, abnormal, etc. values
• Maintain quality control data on tests performed, resolve QC failures and document actions as stipulated by laboratory procedures
• Prepare reagents and take inventory, and advise supervisor as required
• Maintain all records of work performed and keep maintenance logs of equipment
• Assist with answering the telephone and perform order entry in the LIS system, as necessary
• May have individual responsibility for the work of a laboratory unit and may provide leadership for technicians
• Assist with the training of new employees
• Maintain clean work area in accordance with Infection Control guidelines
• Perform other laboratory related tasks under the direction of a supervisor as needed

Qualifications

• Position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in a physical science; medical technology preferred
• New York State Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or a limited permit is required. Applicants must obtain the provisional permit within the probationary period of three months for continued employment. Prior to obtaining the provisional permit, associates may not release any patient reports
