Job summary

Meritus Health Inc in Maryland is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant for the Stat Lab evening shift (11:30pm–7:30am). You will support specimen processing, clerical tasks, and inventory management to ensure accurate and timely laboratory testing that underpins patient care.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, able to work independently, follows protocols, and communicates well with the lab team. Evening/night and weekend shifts may include a differential pay depending on policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of data entry and medical terminology assessments.
• Ability to understand and follow clinical protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen preparation, including centrifugation, aliquoting, volume measurement, labeling, storage, and packaging for in-house and reference laboratory testing.
• Assist laboratory technical staff with loading and unloading specimens from analyzers.
• Ensure accuracy and quality throughout specimen processing and testing workflows.
• Conduct complex clerical and processing functions while maintaining accurate laboratory records and reports.
• Manage department inventory, including monitoring stock levels, receiving supplies, and organizing storage.
• Collect, handle, and prepare biohazardous waste for proper disposal.
• Follow all laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance standards.
• Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and other healthcare team members.
• Demonstrate independent decision-making, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
