Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum 1 year of work experience in a general lab, specimen processing or phlebotomy area.
• Phlebotomy Certification or training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the main lab staff and other departments to ensure excellent patient care.
• Receive specimens into the laboratory information system and input/retrieve results.
• Process specimens for transport to reference laboratories and distribute to testing areas.
• Verify instrument accuracy and perform quality control and maintenance as directed.
• Operate and maintain laboratory automation systems as appropriate.
• Perform diagnostic/analytic testing and report results to the provider under supervision.
• Ensure correct tests are ordered and properly identify reference laboratories for referred specimens.
• Communicate specimen rejections and critical results to clinical personnel and document appropriately.
• Adhere to laboratory procedures and coordinate with staff on time-sensitive draws and charges.
