Job summary

The University of Scranton is seeking a General Mechanic to perform minor electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry work on campus facilities. This essential position also handles snow removal and large-scale garbage pickup and reports to the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor.

Responsibilities include repairs, weather-related adjustments, move-in assistance, and custodial tasks as needed. 2+ years of maintenance experience and a valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in care and maintenance of similar facilities.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves and other devices as required.
• Perform minor repairs and/or replacements of electrical fixtures devices and appliances as required.
• Perform minor carpentry work to repair windows, doors, hardware, screens and furniture as needed.
• Assist with snow plowing, ice removal, salting, and clearing of snow.
• Remove trash from university residential halls and student apartments, including weekends.
• Assist with first year student move-in day activities and commencement setup.
• Custodial work including cleaning of all university areas as needed.
• Set up and move furniture in student rooms, lounges and other spaces.
