Job summary

Tufts University seeks an HVAC Mechanic I to diagnose, maintain, install and repair HVAC, heating and filtering equipment across campus facilities. You will work with chillers, package systems, split systems and air quality controls, following safety norms and campus procedures.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 7+ years in HVAC with 4+ years licensed, and CORI/SORI checks. A MA Refrigeration Technician License, OSHA 10 and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 7+ years relevant HVAC experience including 4+ years as a licensed HVAC technician.
• Ability to perform minor plumbing and electrical work per code.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Working knowledge of Windows, BAS systems (JCI/Schneider), and CMMS (MAXIMO).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must pass CORI/SORI and driving background checks.
• EPA/DEP certification and Universal CFC reclamation.
• Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician License and a valid US driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, install and repair HVAC, heating and filtering equipment.
• Experience with chillers, package systems, split systems and air quality control equipment.
• Work schedules may include after-hours for emergencies or events.
• Maintain asset PM and condition records using CMMS.
• Prepare parts and tools daily for activities.
• Position is essential per Tufts University policy.
