Job summary

Tufts University in Medford, MA is seeking an HVAC Mechanic I to diagnose, maintain and repair HVAC and related systems. You will work with chillers, package and split systems, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with safety standards.

Reporting to facilities management, you will prepare parts, maintain CMMS records, and respond to emergencies as needed. A valid MA refrigeration license and EPA certification are required, with opportunities for training and career growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 4 years as a licensed HVAC technician.
• Able to perform minor plumbing/electrical work as allowed by code.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Knowledge of BAS systems; MAXIMO helpful.
• Strong communications and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, install and repair HVAC, heating and filtration equipment.
• Experience with chillers, package systems, split systems and air quality control equipment.
• Be available for emergency repairs outside normal hours.
• Maintain asset preventive maintenance records in CMMS.
• Prepare daily parts and tools for site work.
• Adhere to safety norms and university procedures.
