Job summary

Tufts University is seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic I to diagnose, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems across campus facilities. The role involves servicing chillers, package and split systems, and ensuring optimal operation 7 days a week when on call.

Reporting to Facilities Services, you will follow SOPs, document maintenance in the CMMS, and coordinate parts and tools daily. A valid MA refrigeration license and CORI/SORI checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; MA refrigeration license preferred.
• 4+ years as a licensed HVAC technician; 7+ years overall experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform minor plumbing/electrical work.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, install and repair HVAC, heating and filtering equipment.
• Service chillers, package systems and split systems; ensure efficient operation.
• Follow SOPs, safety norms, and meet deadlines for repairs and installs.
• Maintain asset PM records using CMMS; update system data regularly.
• Prepare daily parts and tools for field activities; ensure readiness.
• Position considered essential; respond to campus emergencies and events.
