Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Housekeeper for the 2nd shift to maintain the University Student Commons spaces. The role requires cleaning large areas, following established standards, and supporting special projects as needed.

The position is 40 hours per week with rotating weekend duties, onsite work, and the ability to handle snow removal and incident cleanup. Training in building cleaning is provided during onboarding.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift and carry at least 75 pounds routinely.
• Ability to read, hear and follow spoken/written directions and schedules.
• Flexibility to work rotating weekends and 40 hours per week.
• Complete a training program in building cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Clean up to 28,000-35,000 square feet per eight-hour shift.
• Work 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m. during the school year; 12:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. during breaks.
• Snow/ice removal, water or fire damage cleanup, and event support.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for students, staff and visitors.
