Job summary

Virginia Tech seeks an entry-level Housekeeping position to maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in residential halls and other assigned areas within Student Affairs. Duties include cleaning lounges, offices, restrooms, and public spaces; floor care; trash removal; snow removal; and stocking supplies.

Training will be provided to operate cleaning equipment and follow safety protocols. Work schedule is Saturday through Wednesday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm with on-call shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus.
• Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain established standards of cleanliness and sanitation in residential halls and other assigned areas.
• Perform floor maintenance, dusting, trash removal, snow/ice removal from entrances, and replenishment of supplies.
• Operate powered and manual cleaning equipment and report any repair needs or unsafe conditions.
