The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Housekeeper in Blacksburg, Virginia. This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in residential halls and other assigned areas. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, trash removal, and cleaning various interior spaces.
Applicants should have excellent customer service and communication skills, knowledge of cleaning methods, and the ability to follow instructions. The role offers a yearly salary of $33,280 plus a shift differential.
This is an entry‑level position that attends to housekeeping needs and assures a clean, sanitary and safe environment in the residential halls where residents can live and learn, as well as in other assigned areas in Student Affairs. Responsibilities include maintaining established standards of cleanliness and sanitation in student lounges, offices, lobbies, stairs, rest rooms, showers, windows, and other interior space. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, gathering and removal of trash, snow and ice removal from entranceways and sidewalks, raking leaves and gathering trash from areas near buildings, and replenishing supplies. The employee will operate powered and manual cleaning equipment, report needed equipment and building repairs, and report any unsafe or unusual housekeeping situations. The employee is responsible for the care and handling of housekeeping supplies, equipment, and assigned keys, and must be willing to learn housekeeping procedures and be trained to use housekeeping equipment.

Second shift and may include nights, weekends, holidays, and as needed for good customer service. Shifts will be from 3:30 pm – 12:30 am.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
