Job summary

The University of Virginia Facilities Management Department seeks Custodians for a 5:00pm - 1:30am, M-F shift in the Central Grounds zone. The role focuses on safe housekeeping, teamwork, and reliable timesheet submission to support residents, staff and students.

Basic housekeeping experience is preferred. Duties include cleaning, trash removal, minor maintenance, and maintaining supply inventories on-site in Charlottesville, VA.

Qualifications

• Basic housekeeping experience preferred.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures and directions.
• Basic computer, tablet or smartphone usage and timesheets submission.

Responsibilities

• Maintain offices, classrooms, restrooms and public areas in clean, orderly conditions.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers and burnishers.
• Remove trash and clean bathrooms, wipe surfaces, dust, vacuum and mop.
• Maintain cleaning closets and inventories of supplies; request more as needed.
• Report repairs, pest control needs and any violations to residents, staff or supervisors.
• May perform minor maintenance such as changing lightbulbs.
• Other duties may be assigned.
