Virginia Tech seeks a Custodian responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across campus facilities, including restrooms, classrooms, and corridors. The role requires operating cleaning equipment, handling supplies, and following safety procedures. You may be assigned to 2nd or 3rd shift and must be available for emergencies as needed.

Hours are 40 per week, with a pay band and shift differential. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be able to lift up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications

• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and properly use cleaning chemicals and agents.
• Walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; safely move or handle up to 35 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach, push/pull, perform repetitive motion.
• Safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
• Willingness to learn heavy floor care equipment.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsabilités

• Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces, restrooms, hallways, classrooms, stairwells, elevators, and interior spaces.
• Perform trash removal, recycling collection, and replenish supplies.
• Operate powered cleaning equipment and report repairs or safety issues.
• Attend to emergency cleanup and blood-borne pathogen procedures as required.
