Job summary

St. Joseph Institute for Addiction in Port Matilda, PA is seeking a Behavioral Health Associate I for the 2nd shift (12:30-9:00). The role supports a multidisciplinary treatment team by monitoring client behaviors, providing care, and responding to crises.

You will conduct safety checks, document observations, assist with activities, and help with education programs while maintaining a safe, structured environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Six months or more experience with the population preferred.
• Knowledge of psychiatric disorders and dual diagnosis is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures wellbeing and maintains a safe, structured environment.
• Maintains constant supervision of clients and conducts safety checks.
• Checks clients for contraband and manages belongings.
• Interacts with clients, observes behaviors, and reports to supervisor.
• Encourages attendance at group therapy and client participation in activities.
• Facilitates educational-rehabilitative groups covering social and coping skills.
• Records vital signs and communicates changes to the charge nurse.
• Documents in client records timely and accurately.
• Applies de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and behavior.
• Supports unit cleaning and organization, and assists with admissions and discharge processes.
