Job summary

St. Joseph Institute for Addiction in Port Matilda, PA, seeks a Behavioral Health Associate I for the 2nd shift (12:30 PM–9:00 PM). You will monitor and support clients, document observations, and assist in crisis management as part of the multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes safety, bedside care, de-escalation, and engagement in group activities and therapeutic recreation. A high school diploma and CPR certification are required, with preference for prior experience with the population

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months or more experience working with the specific population preferred.
• Knowledge of common psychiatric disorders and/or dual diagnosis and treatment modalities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the wellbeing of clients and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
• Conduct safety checks and provide supervision per guidelines.
• Monitor clients for contraband and manage belongings.
• Interact with clients, document observations, and encourage group therapy participation.
• Engage clients in activities and facilitate educational-rehabilitative groups.
• Record vital signs and communicate significant changes to the nurse in charge.
• Apply de-escalation techniques to manage emotions and participation.
• Assist with unit organization, documentation, and incident reporting.
