Job summary

Universal Health Services’ Brooke Glen Behavioral Hospital in Fort Washington, PA seeks an Assistant Assessment and Referral Director to oversee the evening shift and support admissions. The role centers on initial assessments, coordinating referrals, and collaborating with the Director of Assessment and Referral to ensure timely admissions.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Social Work, mental health/behavioral sciences, or related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of direct clinical practice in a psychiatric/mental health/chemical dependency setting and at least one year of management experience.
• Experience in patient assessment, referral, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
• Completion of CPR course and CPI training within 90 days of employment.
• Thorough knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHA, state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs the response to requests for services by phone and in person, including the initial response, the assessment and referral process, designation of appropriate level of care, initiation/admission into services, and follow-up activity.
• Completes a patient interview according to policy.
• Documents patient information.
• Reviews the effectiveness of the initial interface with external reviewers.
• Maintains an active involvement and awareness of all patient admissions, discharges and transfers.
• Shares on call responsibilities with the Director of Admissions.
• Provides initial evaluation and initiates the assessment, documenting patient symptomology/functioning/needs.
• Staffs each assessment with appropriate physician, documenting recommendations and Axis I-V diagnoses, when appropriate.
• In the absence of the Director, facilitates daily Access meeting, as needed; provides information on previous day's intake calls, current day's scheduled evaluations for all staff members and delegates responsibilities as appropriate.
• May be required to perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Admissions
