University of California, Merced is seeking a Night/Weekend Services Coordinator for the Access Services Unit. You will oversee evening and weekend library operations, supervise student assistants, and ensure smooth desk coverage and safety.
You will train staff, prepare procedures, and support library programs and data reporting. This role requires flexible hours, strong customer service, and knowledge of MS Word/Excel.
The full salary range for this position is Step 1: $27.74/hr - Step 17: $36.08/hr. The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is Step 1: $27.74/hr. This is a temporary, union position represented by Clerical & Allied Services — CX Teamsters Local 2010. The schedule for this position is Friday 2pm-6pm, Saturday 10am-6pm and it operates during the 16-week academic semesters. The position will not work during winter intercession or summer. Remote/Hybrid eligibility: In-Person.

The Access Services Unit is the primary customer service unit of the Library. Access Services operations include information delivery, customer service, course resources, collection maintenance, and stacks operations. The Night/Weekend Services Coordinator is responsible for the night/weekend operation of Library services during assigned shifts, including opening/closing on weekends and coordinating student employees’ work assignments. The role orients and counsels student employees on policies and procedures, trains and coordinates their work, and sets priorities for nights and weekends (desk staffing, circulation operations, customer support, shelving, and related tasks). The role records unit statistics, responds to security alarms, and ensures knowledge of opening/closing procedures. It also provides basic support and troubleshooting for Library computers and printers and assists patrons with Library tools and resources.
The Access Services unit employs approximately 20-25 student assistants (10-15 FTE). The Night/Weekend Services Coordinator supports building operations, assessments, departmental inventories, and equipment surplus.
