Job summary

Banner Health in Mesa, Arizona is seeking an Acute Medication History Pharmacy Technician to obtain detailed medication histories from patients and families. You will document and verify prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins, and herbal products to support safe patient care under pharmacist supervision.

Requirements include AZ licensure/certification or intern status, at least two years of pharmacy tech experience, and strong math and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
• AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card must be provided at time of hire.
• Two years pharmacy technician experience; knowledge of brand/generic names, OTCs and herbal supplements.
• Ability to perform moderate to difficult calculations with a handheld calculator; strong attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, customer service focus, and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document complete medication history by interviewing patients, families, and sources.
• Interview patients to collect prescription, OTC, herbal and supplement data for accurate history.
• Document history and allergies in the EHR; notify staff of completion.
• Follow infection control and safe interview procedures with proper identifiers.
• Maintain a safe environment; perform quality checks and unit inspections as required.
• Assist as Acute Pharmacy Technician with medications prep, charging, restocking and IV/chemotherapy where appropriate.
