Job summary

Banner Health is seeking an Acute Medication History Pharmacy Technician in Gilbert, AZ. The role focuses on obtaining and documenting complete medication histories by interviewing patients, families, and other sources to support safe patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two years pharmacy technician experience.
• Knowledge of brand/generic names of drugs, OTCs and their strengths/uses, and knowledge of herbal/dietary supplements and their strengths/uses.
• Ability to perform moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator.
• Strong customer service focus, exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, prioritization, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities.
• Knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Automated dispensing systems.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and prioritizes patients for medication history collection.
• Interviews patients to collect medication history and related information.
• Documents medication history and allergies in the electronic health record.
• Follows infection control and patient interview procedures.
• Maintains a safe working environment and performs quality checks.
• Assumes duties of Acute Pharmacy Technician when needed, including dispensing and intravenous preparation.
