Job summary

Banner Health in Mesa, Arizona is seeking an Acute Medication History Pharmacy Technician. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will obtain a patient’s complete medication history through interviews with patients, families, and other resources, and document it into the medical record.

Responsibilities include collecting prescriptions, OTCs, vitamins, supplements, and herbal remedies to support safe and effective patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
• AZ Wallet Card must be provided at hire.
• Minimum of two years pharmacy technician experience.
• Knowledge of brand/generic names of drugs, OTCs and herbal supplements.
• Ability to perform moderate to difficult math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and prioritize patients for medication history collection.
• Interview patients to collect medication history and verify information with family or other resources.
• Document medication history and allergies in the electronic health record.
• Follow infection control and patient interview procedures.
• Maintain a safe working environment and perform quality control checks.
• Possibly perform duties of Acute Pharmacy Technician when needed (preparing, charging, restocking, compounding).
