Job summary

Slate is seeking an experienced Operations Manager, General Assembly to lead the production team in a fast-paced automotive startup context. You will be responsible for safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale, and you will align processes with Slate’s continuous improvement principles.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years in high-volume operations, with the ability to work night shifts, coordinate complex projects, and build strong relationships with leadership and hourly staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 12+ years of operations management experience in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with employees at all levels.
• Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers.
• Ability to lead a diverse workforce and coach employees.
• Strong knowledge of Automotive, General Assembly, Production, Process and Maintenance.
• Understanding of continuous improvement systems.
• Knowledge of quality systems, throughput, standardization, and product/process launch.
• Ability to manage and coordinate complex projects with clear communication.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the General Assembly Team to meet safety, quality, production, profitability, and service targets.
• Support all aspects of production processes including safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale.
• Oversee all General Assembly personnel, both hourly and salary.
• Review daily expenditures and resolve anomalies.
• Lead change management initiatives and provide coaching to employees.
• Ensure compliance in all audit initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale.
• Drive launch and mid-cycle actions, cost improvements and product safety.
