Rivian is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician in California (Bay Area) to support Rivian vehicle repairs. The role may involve remote work or travel to various locations, including the production plant, to provide vehicle support as needed.

This level-agnostic posting recruits Technician candidates across seniority levels; the exact level depends on business needs and candidate experience. A 40-hour week is typical with potential shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Proficient in using hand tools and power tools.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, with no driving-related suspensions or revocations within a 3-5 year period.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer is preferred.
• Must be available for a 40-hour work week, which may include weekends, holidays, and shifts during early morning, evening, or overnight hours based on business needs.
• Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, walking, and frequent use of hands for grasping tools and data entry.
• Physical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.).
• Ability to read and speak fluent English.
• Ability to see, read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics.
• This role may require regular interaction with customers and their families, 3rd party affiliates, and suppliers within Rivian facilities, on mobile service routes, or at community outreach events.

Responsibilities

• Perform or assist with vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections in service centers or in the field.
• Identify and explain Rivian product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories.
• Follow repair procedures using available technical resources.
• Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality.
• Manage parts operations: ordering, receiving, shipping, inventory.
• Provide feedback to senior technicians or leadership.
• Support service campaigns and containment initiatives.
• Document all work and technical notes clearly.
• Work collaboratively with the team and maintain high-quality work with minimal supervision.
• Communicate professionally with customers.
