Job summary

ASML in San Diego seeks a Plasma and Laser Physics Engineer to validate and optimize EUV source performance across the product lifecycle. You will design experiments, analyze data, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and leadership to drive world-class system performance.

The role requires strong background in plasma physics, optics, and multidisciplinary engineering, with hands-on lab experience and proficiency in MATLAB/Python.

Qualifications

• Background in plasma physics, optics, and complex system development.
• Experience with optics, laser-induced plasma, and optical metrology.
• Experience with multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar tools.
• Experience with semiconductor equipment development is preferred.
• Hands-on lab instrumentation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop system-level expertise on EUV light source performance.
• Apply theoretical models and experimental techniques to analyze source performance.
• Design, execute, and document scientific experiments to validate prototype hardware and software.
• Develop and execute test plans with traceability to system requirements.
• Process and analyze large datasets using MATLAB and Python.
• Troubleshoot complex performance issues and propose corrective actions.
• Use advanced diagnostic equipment to characterize system performance.
• Create technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Support customer escalations through remote and on-site troubleshooting.
• Provide training to factory and field teams.
• Travel as needed for customer-site support.
• Maintain safety procedures in the lab.
