Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an attorney to support the Ethics & Conduct Office within the Office of the General Counsel. You will handle ethics reviews, investigations, and risk-based compliance projects across the Laboratory.

The role requires a JD, 3+ years in ethics/compliance, strong communication, and the ability to obtain required security clearances. Expect collaboration with staff across the Lab and potential policy development contributions.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to practice.
  • At least three years of directly applicable ethics and compliance experience.
  • Experience advising on ethics and conduct matters, internal investigations, and compliance programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, mediation, and cross-cultural collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Compliance and Mission Support Group with ethics, risk, and conduct reviews and training.
  • Investigate alleged policy violations, conduct fact-finding, and prepare confidential reports.
  • Enter matters into case management systems and assist with data analysis as needed.
  • Support initiatives to advance risk management and compliance.
  • Respond to government investigations and inquiries as appropriate.
  • Develop and present briefs or training to staff at all levels across the Lab.
