Job summary

Summit Interconnect in Schaumburg, IL is hiring for a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) technician to support PCB development, etching and stripping of inner and outer layers for panel plating. Under general supervision, you will operate equipment and maintain safety and quality standards.

You will follow travelers and production schedules, obtain measurements, set line speeds, perform preventive maintenance, and identify non-conforming product for escalation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or production environment.
  • PCB industry experience preferred.

  • Set conveyor speed and determine development breakpoint for chemistry; inspect panel quality.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and chemical replenishments.

  • Follow production control scheduling and review travelers.
  • Understand industry standards and customer specifications.

Requirements

About the Role:

Under general supervision perform Development, Etching and Stripping of Inner Layers and Outer Layers (for Panel plating).


Responsibilities:


  • Obtain resist thickness and copper weight(s) from traveler.

  • Set appropriate speed on conveyor line and determine proper development breakpoint for chemistry used, determine etching parameters and inspect panel quality, which includes line/space optical measurements.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning screens, chemical replenishments, monitoring and periodic adjustments of speed, temperature and/or chemical levels.

  • Perform chemical dump/makeup and/or additions under Lab direction.

  • Operate all equipment with little supervision.

  • Make set-up decisions which conform to customer specifications.

  • Evaluate and discontinue processing of non-conforming product and report it to manager.

  • Follow production control scheduling and review all travelers.

  • Comprehend industry standards, customer specifications, designated reference materials and their appropriate application.

  • Work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Work under pressure with time constraints.

  • Operate all manual processes and supporting equipment with little supervision.

  • Effectively follow company systems and procedures.

  • Perform other department or company related tasks at the direction of management.


Required Skills:


  • General ability to speak, read and write English fluently.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Must have very good concentration and must be able to remain focused with minor interruptions.

  • Problem solving ability.

  • Must be able to cooperate and communicate effectively with management/supervisory staff Work independently with minimal supervision.


Preferred Skills:


  • Experience in printed circuit board (PCB) industry will be preferred.

  • Understanding of industry standards and appropriate application.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the PCB industry is preferred but not required.


Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long period of time.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following detailed safety precautions (wearing respirators, handling hazardous materials, working with industrial machinery, etc.)

  • Using equipment as per operating procedures (heavy machines, test equipment, power tools, etc.).
