Job summary

Spencer Ogden represents an established heavy civil contractor in Arizona seeking an experienced Estimator for its Water/Wastewater team. You will develop detailed cost estimates for municipal water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects, review plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout bidding.

Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating or related heavy civil construction experience.

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

We are working with an established heavy civil contractor in Arizona that is looking to add an experienced Estimator to its Water/Wastewater construction team.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established contractor delivering municipal water, wastewater and infrastructure projects throughout Arizona. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates across a variety of civil and water infrastructure projects.

As an Estimator, you will review project plans and specifications, develop detailed cost estimates and work closely with project teams, subcontractors and suppliers throughout the bidding process.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs
• Reviewing plans, specifications and bid documents to determine project scope
• Completing quantity takeoffs and developing pricing for civil construction activities
• Soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations
• Developing labor and equipment production assumptions
• Reviewing historical project costs and bid-versus-actual performance
• Identifying project risks, constructability concerns and potential cost impacts
• Visiting project sites as required during the estimating process
• Supporting bid reviews, presentations and contractor/client discussions
• Working closely with operations and project management teams during project handover

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of estimating or related heavy civil construction experience
• Experience within water, wastewater, wet utilities, underground utilities or municipal infrastructure
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials and equipment
• Experience preparing detailed quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
• Strong understanding of subcontractor and supplier pricing
• Experience with self-perform civil construction is highly desirable
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered
• Strong communication, organization and attention to detail

Experience estimating projects involving water treatment, wastewater treatment, pump stations, pipelines, underground utilities, earthwork or structural concrete would be particularly relevant.
